Love// Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout

Hello lovely ladies!  Thank you for stopping by on this fun, monthly blog hop.  I always enjoy being apart of it.  I enjoy viewing how others use the contents of the kit each month.  I know it inspires me.  For today's layout I wanted to definitely use the exclusive patterned papers and I couldn't deicide which one, so I used both.  If you are interested in the kit, go to Clique Kits site and enroll.
I did 3-4 inches strips of each 12x12 and alternated the placement.  I did enjoy the opposite side of one that said Blah Blah and made them into corner pieces.  It is a bit busy, but at least the colors are pastel.  I then take my Prima Marketing stencil called Doily #2 and some heavy gloss gel for the impression.  I used the gel like I would if it were modeling paste.  It works the same except this dries to a glossy finish and it adhere glitter to it really well.  So before it dries I added the gold glitter to really have it pop with all the detail.
I then apply white gesso to the center area so that I can apply more mix media.  I add Color Shine in pink and Distress stain in cracked pistachio with the packaging technique.  I also add a few splatters with both colors as well.  The ephemera on the layout is also exclusive to the kit this month.  Clique kits joined Pink Fresh Studio and made an ephemera pack that coordinates well with the kit.  The colors of this month are more on the pastel side but it also featured the Goldie collection from Studio Calico.

The wood veneer is from the Hello Love collection and I used black ink to color it.  The flair button also exclusive to the kit is sitting on a bed of black tangled thread.  I add a bit of journaling to the layout to finish it off.

Here are the rest of your stops for the blog hop.  Thank you for stopping by.

Little Me/ Mix Media Scrapbook Layout

Hello lovely ladies!  My mom recently found some pictures of me as a tiny person.  I think I look about 2 or 3 in this picture, trying to pick up a small dog.  I love this picture so much.  I am such a dog lover and it started when I was a kid.  I also love that my rather large forehead existed even then.  If you did not know, I'm self conscious about my forehead.  I have been so inspired, recently, by the wonderful Wilna so much recently and wanted to try using a new technique.  She demoed this technique in one of her layouts in February.
I started with a large scrap piece of patterned paper with the musical notes from the Maggie Holmes Shine collection called Dreamy.  The musical notes are on a cream colored background which, to me, makes it have a vintage feel.  I then used a Prima marketing stencil called Fading Floral and heavy gloss gel through the stencil.  I used the gel as if it was modeling paste and while it was wet, I added gold glitter on top of the scrap piece of paper only. The look is completely stunning.  I let the rest dry, and for the record it does take awhile. The gloss drys to a shiny finish and it was gorgeous like that but I wanted to add a light pink watercolor wash to the top and bottom aspects where the stencils lies.  It is just beautiful.
I have Heidi Swapps Sugar Chick paper pad in my stash and used 4-5 patterened papers to make tags for this layout.  I used weathered wood Distress ink along the edges to have the tags pop a bit more from the background.  I also added gold and a sheer cream ribbon in my stash for more detail.
The flourish is from Wilna Furstenberg online store.  She makes these beautiful flourishes and this one looked great with this layout.  I added a few chipboard pieces from the Hello Love collection.  I did my journaling right on the photo with a Zig Vellum Writer.  I did not add any black ink splatters to this layout. I kept it light and mounted it on a blush colored piece of card stock from my stash.  Here is the process video for your viewing pleasure.

Hello scrappy friends!  I am on the Crafty Maven Getaway for Mix it up Monday.  Today's project encourages us to think outside the box when it comes to our paper crafts.  Our inspiration board has gorgeous corals, navies, and neutrals.  I did originally start with all the corals, and then I quickly added more and more colors I love.
I started off with Strathmore, 140 pound Mixed Media paper.  I used Dina Wakley Gel Medium in order to smoothly apply Tim Holtz tissue paper called Malange.  The gel medium from Dina Wakley is the best to get tissue paper down the smoothest.  I then started with the acrylic paints.  I began with Watermelon, Sunkissed Coral, Coral, Eraser Pink and Crimson Red and then I started adding in more colors that I like in the blue and mint family.  I did not want to add the dark navies because I knew I was going to add my text in black and it would not have stood out on navy.  I finished it with some gold Color Shine from Heidi Swapp.
The word Love was added with a round paint brush and the print was done with a Zig Vellum writer.  The frame, I was lucky enough to find at Goodwill for $3.  I have every intention of hanging this in my craft room on my gallery art wall.  It will fit in just nicely.   Here is my process video for this fun DIY project.

Pretty Patterned Paper Playground// Beautiful Smiles

Hello lovely ladies of scrapbook land!  Katty and I have our second episode of Pretty Patterned Paper Playground for you today.  For our challenge this week, we wanted to scrap-lift a lovely Missy Whidden layout. It was a great layout to do "controlled" mix media".  I would encourage anyone who want to try mix media out, to begin like this.  I started off with two random scrap pieces of paper that I primed with white gesso.  I then went randomly in with mists galore; layer upon layer.  I did one with all the pinks, reds and oranges and the other with the blues and greens.

Of course no mix media is complete without some Heidi Swapp Color Shine in gold.  I then used a 1.5" circle punch and randomly laid them out with 4 rows of 7 circles.  So I made sure I had 14 of the pink ones and 14 of the green ones.  For this portion I am a stickler for, even parts.
I am scrapping a recent picture of my mother and I at a Broadway musical "Kinky Boots" that came to Fort Lauderdale.  It was a great show and of course I bought along my selfie stick for a moment like this.  The title "beautiful" is from the Maggie Holmes Shine collection sticker sheet and the other letters are from my stash.
I added a few black circle stickers from a MAMBI sticker sheet and Heidi Swapp.  I am loving the tiny word stickers from Tim Holtz as well.   Missy is a true inspiration and in her layout as well she did her journaling along the left vertical side which is a nice detail.  Missy also stitched through her circles with black thread.  I do not have a sewing machine but I do have clear stamps that have a stitching design to them, so I stamped stitches with Black Staz-on ink on my circles.  I always like adding black ink splatters at the end of my design.
We took over each others YouTube channel, so my video is linked above on her channel and her version is on my channel.  Please watch both if you have the time.  I hope you enjoy the challenge and join us on our Facebook group: Pretty Patterned Paper Playground.

Thank you,
Evi

I Love You// Hip Kit Layout Submission

Hello crafty ladies!  I recently spent the weekend with  my mom.  She drove over to my coast from the opposite coast of Florida.  We had tickets to see Kinky Boots at the Broward Performance Center in Fort Lauderdale.  So what happens when a mother and daughter get together....talking, more talking, selfies, selfies with my doggies, talking, eating, shopping and more talking.  So I have tons of photos to scrap for the next week or two.

For this layout, I started out with white American Crafts card stock and layered the other half of the patterned paper You and Me from the Hello Love collection.  I used the other half of this sheet on my Wilna inspired layout earlier this week.  I primed my page with gesso to prep for some mixed media.
I then took out my Cuddle Bug and my Maggie Holmes flower dies from the Confetti Collection.  I love these dies.  They make the perfect flat flower.  I keep all my scraps but I thumbed through them to find all my Maggie Holmes Shine collection scraps for this layout to have some cohesiveness.  I used Carefree and Memento for the flowers and Charming and Brilliant for the leaves for the flowers.
Before I could adhere the flowers down with hot glue, I need to add my flare with some mix media.   I picked out three Neocolor II water soluble crayons in,  , and    .  I used a water brush to have it bleed the color onto the page.  I stayed along the diagonal of the patterned paper and only there.  I then added neon green liquid acrylic paint splatters with a fan brush from Daler and Rowney in Genesis Green.  I liked the contrast of the green against the pink wash of color.  I could have stopped there.  I could have.  But, I did not.

I then took my mini heart stencil from my stash and Heidi Swapp metallic paste in gold and pink added it randomly around this mix media.  All these added details simply add my interest to the page as you look at it.  And lets not forget my signiture black india ink splatters as well to finish off the layout.  I did not want to add journalling on this page, as I felt the title "I love you" spoke millions on the person in the photo with me and my dogs.

On a side note, this layout was made for an application submission to the Hip Kit Club design team call.  I have provided my process video for this layout.

This Happened// Mix Media Scrapbook Layout

Hello lovely ladies!  I was very inspired by the lovely Wilna Furtenberg for this layout.  I was power watching a few of her YT videos and love the simplicity on how she adds color with watercolor washes.  Now of course I need more than just a wash of color, so true to form, I went all out with bold color.  Purple in fact.  I printed this fun picture of me and my sister in funky PJs I purchased for us to have "Twinsies" photos.  I printed it in color to grasp the crazy colors that were in them.  However, I realized this purple fuscia pink color does not exists in my stash, hence opting to create my own background.

The striped paper is from the Hello Love collection from Crate Paper and I cut in an odd angle with a craft knife and a self healing mat.  I simply used roller adhesive and did not prime my page with gesso when I took out my paints.  I had a moment where I thought I was not going to add to much paint so I would not need gesso.  Ha!  I nearly covered the entire page with paint.  Note to self: always just use gesso Evi!!!.  Adding some purple paint splatters in the corners to bring the color to the edges.  I then did a few area of detail white hash marks on top of the purple for added interest to the page.  Very Wilna...

In keeping with the Wilna vibe, I cut a floral flourish on my Silhoutte Cameo on white card stock from American Crafts.  A few little embellishments from my stash.  I even took out three spools of ribbon in a lavender, light pink and a magenta and layers them first under the flourish.  I think they added a soft element to the layout.  I adhered the ribbon with hot glue.  The title "this happened" is from an Amy Tangerine collection and I loved that they were white and able to pop off the background.

I matted my layout on a black and white text paper from the Happy Place from Fancy Pants.  It added some added interest the boarder and before I adhered it I added a few strips of black and white striped washi tape to the edges too.  Wanted to pull more of the B&W color to the top.

Cute Trick// The Ink Road

Hello lovely ladies!  My fur babies are always up to tricks for treats.  And as you can see, we are in my craft room based on the messy floor area.  Zoe is on the left and my Kobe is on the right.  I may have been eating something to encourage their hind leg trick.  For this layout, I started out with Nicole from the Rise and Shine collection from Amy Tangerine as my background paper.  I started out cutting into Lucy, the patterned paper with the chevron and using the opposite side for my layers.
I needed to include some mix media to my layout, so I gessoed the center of my layout to prime.  I did the classic "packaging" technique to add some Distress paint in Cracked Pistachio and Color Shine in Butter.  I then added some more fun by applying Metallic pastes from Heidi Swapp in raspberry and gold with a mini chevron stencil from The Crafter's Workshop.
I then had fun combining a few collections of ephemera.  The yellow 'cute' is from the Wonder collection from Crate Paper.  I then used the green alphas from the Maggie Holmes Shine collection for the contrast.  I was able to add a few fun chipboard hearts from the Hello Love collection along with the gold resin heart.
A few added details like the yellow crepe 3d sticker is from the Shine collection along with the puffy stickers.  I matted the photo on a piece of black and white striped paper and some vellum.  The stamping along the edges are done with Staz-on black ink and the Lora Bailora stamp set called Love.  Light pink splatters are from the Heidi Swapp color shine collection and some light journaling too. I've included my process video here.

Thank you,
Evi

Adorable// The Crafty Maven Getaway

Hello lovely ladies!! This is my first layout for the Crafty Maven Getaway and I am super thrilled to be apart of a dynamic group of talented and creative women.  I am scrapping a photo that I quicker took while my little Zoe looked up into the light from her nap.  The light hit her perfectly in the face and immediately went to print it.
We were given a mood board for the vision of where our project can be inspired from.  The vivid rich blues, navy and beiges are dominant and wanted to someone incorporate these colors in my layout.  I do not work usually with browns in my layouts but I was ok with the beige element.  So I started off working on a kraft patterened paper called Monroe from the Rise and Shine collection by Amy Tangerine.  It also had a small tiny triangle doodle in the paper which picked up the light doodle marks on the tea cups in the mood board.

I then started with a 1" flat paint brush and used craft acyclic paint and did large brush strokes across the whole page.  I mixed real navy, admiral blue, english navy, carolina blue, baby blue and mediterranean blue randomly in my strokes.  The overall initial outcome was beautiful, but I thought it was a bit much to be the entire background.  So, the layers of other patterned papers entered in the beige family with a lovely large polka dot and one with gold foiled hash marks.
I also played around with cut files from the silhouette design store.  So the bone shape, the "ruff" word, the paw print and the infinite sign with the paw print were cut and sprayed with Heidi Swapp Color shine. They were just a few embellishments that I wanted to add to my Zoe layout.  The rest of the bit and pieces are from my stash from different collections.  The paw print flair button is from a Feed Your Craft on Etsy.
In order to add a few more of the bold vivid blue paint strokes I added a few pieces along the edges to bring the blue to other areas of the page.  I finished off the layout with beige sequins in sets of three in a few places and navy Color Shine.  Here is the process video on the Crafty Maven to watch how this layout came together.

Thank you,
Evi

Always Cute/ Mix Media Scrapbook Layout

Hello friends!  I have a bright, bold and colorful layout again.  What can I say, its my Jam.  My milk to my cookies, the butter on my bread... you get the idea.  Its just apart of me to gravitate towards color.  I made the random circle punched cut file with my Silhouette Cameo.  I wanted it to look like bubbles and made the circles different sizes.  I then played around with different patterned papers that could show through the openings and loved the way this paper from the Better Together collection from Amy Tangerine called Milk & Honey.
I then prepped the page with white gesso and started appling a thick layer of gelato to circle area.  Once it was generously covered, I misted the whole area to have the color move and tilted the page to create these wonderful drip marks.
Once they were adhered together, I could start the embellishment process.  I printed my photo in black and white to not compete with the background.  Most of the ephemera are from older collections from Amy Tangerine and some Heidi Swapp was also thrown in from my stash.
A few ink splatters were also added and that finished off my layout.  I do think I would have put the embellishments next time in the middle aspect as to not cover up the awesome drip marks.  It simply gives me reason to try this technique again.  Here is my process video for this layout.

Thank you,
Evi

Hello Love// The Ink Road

Hello friends!  I have been on a real pink kick lately.  What can I say, its one of my favorite colors.  Just doing a cute quick selfie moment with one of my doxies, Zoe.  She is going to be 10 years old this year, I cannot believe it.  Time flies when you are having fun.  Anyways, lets get into the lovely layout.  I started out by fussy cutting out this stripes with the houses called Charming Charade from the Dear Lizzy Fine and Dandy collection found at The Ink Road.

I wanted to have layered look with 2 others papers from the collection.  The gold foiled words on the pink paper is called Fabulous Fun and the soft pink bows paper is Bright Bows.
I added details to the layout with ephemera from Hello Love and from the Shine collection.  To had more interest to the photo, i first matted it with the left over vellum from last weeks layout called Hooray and then layers multiple un used planner pages for the stacked paper look.
I always have to do a bit of mix media/ art supply fun to a layout and for this one I used the macaroon gelato to add the soft focus pink around the photo.  I smudged if with a dabber that comes with the set.  I also smudged more gelato on the wood veneer to make my title "Hello Love".
I finish off most of my layouts with black ink splatters and a roller date stamp.  I loved the way this layout turned out.  Here is my process video to watch how it came together.

Pretty Patterned Paper Playground Challenge #1

Hello crafty ladies!  We are together for some creative goodness with our new series.  Katty Miranda, of +Katty Miranda and @kattymiranda on IG, lives in south Florida as well and somehow we eventually figured out we live close to each other.  So what do scrappers do as a meet and greet...we went to a crop together.  We spent all day talking and scrapping and thought we should get together and do a fun series for our subscribers.  So that is exactly what we did.  We decided we wanted our series to be interactive and made a coordinating Facebook group to play along with us in our Playground.  We will post our mood board for the month on the FB group page and we limited our supplies to 5 items.  We choose the Hello Love collection from Crate Paper, mists, paints, stencils and ephemera.  The ongoing challenge will always be to create our own pretty patterned background and we have set the chanllenge to 15 minutes.

Big Birthday Boy/ Mixed Media Scrapbook layout

Hello lovely creatives!  I have a fun monochromatic layout with wonderful birthday pictures of my nephew.  I took like 10 pictures of him blowing out his candles and collaged these 4 to tell the story.  He was loving the Jurassic Park cake with a dinosaur on it.  He had to blow his candles with like 4 big breaths and got them all and then my sister in law rubbed icing from the cake on his nose.  He is so stinking cute, I cannot handle it.  Shortly afterwards we enjoyed some yummy cake and ice cream.
I used a butterfly die from a Tim Holtz set.  I used my trusty Cuddle bug over and over and over again to get all my butterflies.  I used the Maggie Holmes Shine collection and choose papers in the same color family.  I was even able to use a 'mess' us background sheet I have saved for a few with added interest.  The background paper is from the Memorandum collection by Pink Paislee.
I have been on a unusual diagonal kick with my last 3 layouts.  I enjoyed the way they looked in flight in a diagonal.  I then proceeded to add more interest to the layout with adding light blue shimmer paste, by Heidi Swapp and a Donna Downey Stencil called Alpha rerun, along the edge of the layout.  I thought it was perfect for a youth inspired layout.
After that, I kept it simple with Navy Color Shine splatter and some light journaling.  The few pops of color are from the chip board sticker pack from Dear Lizzy Fine & Dandy collection.  Thank you as always for stopping by and I have provided the process video below for you.
