So In Love// Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout

Hello scrappy friends!  I had a quick photo shoot with my two doxies around Easter and scrapped the best ones.  If you are a fellow pet parent you know the struggle to get at least one good photo worth printing among the 30 that are taken while calling their names.  Since the photos had blues and purples, I used these same colors of the layout.
I started off with these colors in a few acrylic paints from the Michael's, and with a small flat brush I applied painterly strokes all around the page and not caring if I changed colors and some blending occurred.   The end result of the background is beautiful.
I have also been on a ribbon kick and have added more colors recently to my collection recently.  So with my new "working" and "melting" hot glue gun I applied a black and white ribbon, a white sheer one and a bright blue one.  I liked the vertical orientation of it, it evenly split the page in half for my two photos.
I cut a few die cuts with my Silhouette Cameo and the one with words and doodles is from Wilna's shop.  The last of the ephemera used are from Dear Lizzy Serendipity collection.  I was able to do my journaling right on the photo of Kobe with a Zig Vellum writer.  I then matted my layout on a piece of black and white striped paper and that wrapped up my layout.  Here is the process video to watch.

Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout: My Favorite Helper

Hello fellow scrapbookers.  Thank you as always for stopping by for our monthly blog hop featuring this months Clique Kit named Cave Girl.  This month we are using the collection by Pink Paislee "Memorandeum".  I have loved all the creativity this blog hop provides.  I enjoy the hop myself and become inspired by others who have also purchased the kit.

I am the proud new owner of a Silhoutte Cameo and decided to take advantage of the free cut file available this month and loved this paper clip background.  I had thought about cutting it out on black card stock and decided to still do it with white, because you know I'm going to want to color it up and do some mixed media work with it on my own.  Its not a layout of mine, lately, without mixed media added to the mix.  I will be doing another one here soon using the quote cut file as well.

I used Dina Wakley Gel Medium from Ranger to adhere the intricate background to the patterned paper Time Clock from the collection.  The kit this month came with the collections acetate cut apart page as well.  I am scrapping a picture of my rescue moxie Kobe on my craft room desk amongst my pictures, patterned paper, pens and brushes so the pencil image was perfect.  I backed it with the white card stock to keep it sturdy.

I matted my photo with white tissue paper and then used the card stock cut apart to add another layer.  The few empherma pieces used were all cut out of the same paper.  In order to jazz up my layout some more, I needed to add mixed media.  I decided on a few blue brush strokes along the edge would be just enough.  I used cobalt blue, Caribbean  and Ocean breeze from Apple Barrel were perfect. The word 'favorite' in my title is from the kit as well has the colorful alphas from Bella Blvd.  I finished off the layout with some tangled thread, washi tape accents and journaling along the edges.

Its a bright and cheerful layout and I hope you have enjoyed the close up photos.  I did film a process video:

Thank you for stopping by.  Here is the list of the other blogs to hop on over too.

Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout: Sweet Moments

I have recently adopted a new little young male moxie, which we have named Kobe.  He is energetic, smart, playful and he has quickly stole my heart.  Every time I go for walks I take my phone so that I can easily snap a pic or two.  Of course I have him in a cute bow tie collar in addition to his harness.  I am that dog mom.  So this is a cute pic caught while on our walk near a lake.  He hopped onto the steps and looked ever so causally to the side and I was ready with my phone.  How cute is he!!! So as a scrapbooker, I knew I had a worthy pic to scrap.  I am using my Clique Kit from October which featured the PinkFresh Studio 'Happy olI used a portion of the ______ patterned paper to begin  my layout.
I used the Ranger circular blending tool to add the additional circles in matching acrylic paints from my stash.  I have iridescent medium with a confetti type of stencil from Heidi Swapp to add more circles to the layout.  I used a 2 inch circle punch and the cut apart page for my dies.  And the puffy stickers used are also from the Pink Fresh Collection.  I painted some of the wood veneer stickers from is collection to match the paint circles I already added.
In my stash I have many alpha stamps.  These are the largest set I own from Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby.    I black heat embossed the letters for my title.  I was careful and took my time as to not get a bunch of smudges everywhere.   The photo was matted heavy with simple copy paper.
The Heidi Swapp roller date stamp with Stazon Ink and finished it with some black ink splatters.  I have added my process video for this layout for your viewing pleasure.  Thank you so much for stopping by.

Life just got sweeter: Adopting a Doxie

My dachshund, Zoe, is 9 years old.  I received her as a birthday present years ago while in graduate school.  Zoe has been with me through school, 4 jobs, 2 terrible relationships and about 7 different addresses.  She has been with me for the good times and the not so good times.  Its incredible to love her, as much as I do.  I am not ashamed of the countless amounts of selfies we have taken over these years.  We were taking selfies before they were ever called that in 2005.
I have been living with my fiance for over a year now and we wanted to add a member to our family.  We waited and waited to get an English Bulldog for months.  He was a puppy and we bought everything to care for a puppy.  Unfortunately, our little family tragically lost our puppy 2 weeks later and we have been heart broken.  I do not think you ever truly get over tragedy but your heart can heal enough in order to be able to talk about it without breaking out into tears.  We have taken 6 months to ourselves and evaluated if we are ready to try again with another dog.  We were on the same page and said yes we are ready but this time we will rescue a dog instead.
We visited a few shelters in the very beginning.  I would have taken all the dogs home.  We decided to rescue a dachshund instead.  We went through the adoption application process with Dachshund Rescue of South Florida.  It was a rather intense process.  Besides the $20 application, I needed three references that were not family, clearance for them to call and talk to my current vet for Zoe to verify she is taken care of and an at home visit for an evaluation.  I was so throughly impressed with this process.  They are looking out for the well being of these dachshunds they care for, and truly want them to be a new forever family.  All the doxies are fostered.  There is not a facility to just go see them all and pick.  We had to make appointments to visit any of the doxies available to adopt.
We knew that we did not want a puppy doxie. We wanted a young, potty trained, social dachshund to be with Zoe.  I felt Zoe needed that companionship during our work hours.  She sleeps and lounges too much.  Fives years or younger was our wanting.
There were two male one year olds available.  The head organizer suggested we meet one over the other since my current dog is not very playful.  The other was already know to be mischievous and destructive.  lol.  So arrangements were made to meet Ferrari.

Long story short, he came home with me an hour and half later after playing with him and Zoe together.  He is perfect for us.  He was nice and healthy, shiny black coat, good teeth, healthy white in his eyes, no bad breath, non barker, smart, playful and energetic.  He was found walking on the streets and was brought over to the rescue center.  The rescue organization had him neutered, updated on his vaccines and microchipped.  All of this was included in his adoption agreement.
He is so wonderful.  I re-named the little guy, Kobe, after the basketball player on account of him being able to jump a good three feet in the air.  It is impressive.  He has transitioned into our home beautifully and with little to no problems.  He plays with Zoe's old toys and little Zoe got possessive with them, so I had to buy new toys for Kobe.  He also like bones but then Zoe started taking away his bones, so now buy two sets of bones.  I always remember to give Zoe her needed love time in addition to the love Kobe needs to feel from me too.  They play great together and its a delight to see Zoe scurry around with him.  She does stand her ground when she has had enough and Kobe plays the submissive one and just sits beside her at that point.  My new favorite moment of my days is watching an hour of TV at night with both dogs lounging all over me together.  Its doxie-palooza on the sofa and I love it.  Walking them together shows some challenges as Zoe does her business 1-2-3 and wants to go straight back home where young Kobe as been enjoying longer walks where he marks every other bush in the entire neighborhood.  He brings extra life to our days and frankly as given me a reason to walk more in the mornings and at night.  These two doxies together act like real children.  Even feeding them is hilarious.  Needless to say life has just become a little bit sweeter with the addition of Kobe to our family.
